Comprehensive Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before using the Anker PowerCore 10000. Improper use can damage the product, your devices, or cause personal injury.

Battery Safety

• Do not puncture, crush, or disassemble. The internal lithium‑polymer battery is sealed. Breaking the casing can cause a short circuit, fire, or release of harmful chemicals.
• Do not expose to fire or extreme heat. Temperatures above 60 °C (140 °F) can permanently damage the battery and increase the risk of thermal runaway. Keep away from radiators, stoves, and direct summer sunlight in vehicles.
• Swelling or deformation: If the power bank swells, becomes unusually hot, or emits an odour, stop using it immediately. Place it in a non‑flammable container (e.g., a metal bucket with sand) and contact Anker support. Do not attempt to puncture or compress a swollen battery.
• Water and moisture: The power bank is not waterproof. Do not use it in the rain, in bathrooms, or near sinks. If it gets wet, dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth and allow it to air‑dry for at least 24 hours before use. Do not charge a wet power bank.
• Chemical exposure: Avoid contact with solvents, alcohol, and strong detergents. These can degrade the plastic casing and internal components.

Charging Safety

• Use certified chargers: Only charge the power bank with a UL‑certified or equivalent USB‑A wall charger that outputs 5 V DC. Chargers with higher voltage outputs (Quick Charge, PD) without proper negotiation may damage the power bank, though most will safely default to 5 V. Still, to be safe, use a standard 5 V / 1 A or 2 A charger.
• Cable condition: Inspect the Micro‑USB cable and your device cables before each use. Do not use frayed, kinked, or exposed‑wire cables.
• Charging environment: Charge in a well‑ventilated area on a non‑flammable surface (e.g., a desk or tile counter, not on a bed, sofa, or carpet). Do not cover the power bank or charger with clothing, pillows, or other materials during charging.
• Unattended charging: While the power bank has built‑in overcharge protection, it is best practice to unplug it once fully charged. Avoid leaving it plugged in overnight unattended for days at a time.
• Pass‑through charging: The PowerCore 10000 supports pass‑through charging (charging a device while the power bank itself is charging). However, this generates additional heat. Only use pass‑through charging occasionally and monitor the power bank’s temperature. If it becomes uncomfortably hot, disconnect both cables.

Device Charging Safety

• Compatible devices: The USB‑A output is designed for smartphones, tablets, Bluetooth headphones, portable speakers, and similar low‑power 5 V devices. Do not attempt to power laptops, high‑power tools, or devices that require more than 2.4 A at 5 V.
• Trickle‑charge mode: For very small batteries (fitness trackers, smartwatches, wireless earbuds), always use trickle‑charge mode (double‑press the button; the LED turns green). Charging these devices at full current can damage their tiny batteries.
• Cable quality: Use high‑quality, short USB cables (preferably Anker cables) for the fastest and safest charging. Damaged or low‑quality cables can cause voltage drops, overheating, and slow charging.
• Overheating during use: It is normal for the power bank to feel warm when delivering power at maximum rate (2.4 A) for extended periods. If it becomes too hot to hold comfortably (above approximately 45 °C / 113 °F), disconnect your device and allow the power bank to cool before resuming.

Transportation and Travel

• Air travel: The PowerCore 10000 has a capacity of 36 Wh (10,000 mAh at 3.6 V nominal), which is well below the 100 Wh limit for carry‑on lithium batteries. It is permitted in carry‑on baggage only. Do not place it in checked luggage, as airline regulations prohibit loose lithium batteries in the cargo hold.
• Pocket and bag storage: To prevent accidental short‑circuiting, keep the power bank away from metal objects such as keys, coins, paper clips, or jewellery. The USB‑A output is recessed, but a metal object could still bridge the contacts. Use the included travel pouch or a separate pocket.
• Extreme temperatures: Do not leave the power bank in a vehicle on a hot day (interior temperatures can exceed 60 °C) or in freezing conditions. Before use after exposure to cold, allow it to warm up to room temperature.

Storage and Maintenance

• Long‑term storage: If you plan to store the power bank for more than a month, charge or discharge it to approximately 50‑60 % (2‑3 LEDs lit). Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Recharge to 50‑60 % every 3 months to prevent deep discharge.
• Cleaning: Unplug all cables. Wipe the exterior with a soft, slightly damp (not wet) cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, or bleach. To clean the USB ports, use a dry, soft brush or a wooden toothpick; never insert metal objects.
• Inspection: Periodically check the power bank for physical damage, such as cracks, dents, or a loose USB port. If damage is found, discontinue use.

Disposal and Recycling

• Do not discard in household waste. Lithium‑polymer batteries must be recycled or disposed of at a designated battery recycling facility. Many electronics retailers and municipal waste centres offer free battery recycling.
• Before disposal, fully discharge the power bank (use it until the LEDs no longer light up), then cover the USB ports with electrical tape to prevent short circuits during transport.

Emergency Procedures

• If the power bank catches fire: Use a Class D fire extinguisher (for lithium fires) if available, or smother the flames with sand, dirt, or a metal lid. Do not use water, as it can react with lithium.
• If the battery leaks and fluid contacts skin or eyes: Flush the affected area with plenty of clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately. Battery electrolyte can cause chemical burns.
• If a device connected to the power bank becomes unusually hot, emits smoke, or behaves erratically: Disconnect it immediately. Inspect both the cable and the device for damage before using again.

Children and Pets

• Keep the power bank, cables, and travel pouch out of reach of children and pets. Small parts (such as the travel pouch drawstring) can pose a choking hazard. The power bank itself is not a toy and can overheat if covered or mishandled.
